Production Schedule

This is our production schedule for our filming. We have planed out with the dates what days we will be filming, which cast members we will need and any necessary props, equipment and locations needed. We might have to adjust some of the schedule due to the fact that some scenes are to be filmed outside so it is dependant on the weather and also if anyone can't make it.

This is where we were looking at costumes for filming for each part of the song.

Here we have started on our CD poster and CD front cover on adobe photoshop Cs3 which is reliable, you can do most things with it and it is used by professionals for these sort of jobs. i also have experience in using photoshop so i am able to use the programme. For now we have decided to have the same theme in it and will be editing a picture of Claudia, playing Kate Nash in each of them. On the poster we plan to have her sitting on a swing which is hanging from the tree and in the CD cover we plan to have her sitting on the branch against the tree. This is our final design for our poster which we will add all the relevant information and photograph. We haven't yet made a final decision to have this as our CD cover.

brief analysis of Cd covers-kate nash

This is an example of one of Kate Nash's album covers. it features her but she isn't the main focus. the main focus is the house, which inks to the title of the album, 'made of bricks'. the overall look of the CD is still quite old fashioned and there is the idea of perfection, the perfect little house with nice flowers around it has the happy girl in front of it. the album cover makes it seem that the music would be quite happy and upbeat. her name is written in a personalised font which looks quite childlike, this is the same font used on all of the CD covers which gives a link between them all. her name stands out most, more than the title of the album, which shows it is more important because It is most probably more well known and they are trying to sell her as an artist.

This is one of Kate Nash's single CD covers. it has the similar font for her name, which once again stands out the most. varying from her album cover, the image isn't of her, it is a childlike drawn animation which doesn't relate to the title of the song 'foundations'. this could be a representation of how shes quite quirky and different from other artists. the colours are quite bright which represents fun, which gives the impression that Kate Nash herself is fun and different.

Here is another example of one of her singles. once again it doesn't link to the title 'merry happy'. however the image is of the three blind mice, from a well known children's rhyme, this gives a childlike effect again with the animation and also the font of her name again.

Here i have been looking at the overall image of Kate Nash which is quite old fahioned, 50s. this gives us an idea for costumes for our music video.

treatment

We will be making a music video for our A2 coursework, the song we have chosen is 'We get on' by Kate Nash. The reason for this song choice was because it tells a story throughout which we thought would be interesting to film, as we could follow the narrative of the song. Kate Nash's image is quite 50s and there we wanted this retro theme to be included in our music video. We decided to have the person playing Kate Nash to be singing in a jazz bar on a stage, with bright spotlights on her and lots of people. When we edit the video this part will be in black and white. through the video it will flick from the jazz bar to the story being acted out. The basis of the narrative is that there is this boy she likes and tries hard to get his attention, but it doesn't o well for her when she goes to a party and sees him kissing another girl. The image of our music video will be quite 50s and based around the look of Audrey Hepburn.
The video will begin in the jazz bar where she is singing and then go into a flashback where she is telling the audience the story for her and this boy, staring with her struggle to even speak to him and then her efforts to attempt to talk to him. When the story is being told, the video will then go back into colour, giving it a modern twist but still keeping the 50s feel through things such as the main girls clothes. We will have a number of locations; one for the jazz bar, Kate Nash's house, the boys house, the party and the park where she sits with her friends.
We would like our music video to appeal mainly to teenagers as this is the main audience of Kate Nash's music. The song relates well to teenagers through the issues of the girl liking the boy and we will base the music video around what teenagers enjoy doing themselves. We will be using a variety or shots and angles to make it more interesting and also in some cases to show the reactions of the characters. The girl will be singing in most of the music video, however in some parts we decided to just have her acting in some of the scenes to make it more interesting so we can have more happening in the scene.

Research into kate nash

Kate Nash

I have decided to research into Kate Nash and her music videos.
Kate Nash’s career started when she put her music onto MySpace. From this she got recognised and got herself a manager.
Kate Nash’s is generally known for the quirkiness in person and in her videos. From looking at some of her videos, such as Foundations, Pumpkin soup and Mouthwash, we can see that her videos are quirky in the way the Mise en scene is, through old fashioned settings and the idea of perfection even though it may not actually be perfect. For example, in Foundations, she is being the perfect wife, baking cakes in her 50s style house, but its not perfect because she is fighting with her boyfriend, which is shown in a quite comical way through the socks fighting.

Some of her influences are:

Fiona Apple

Ms Dynamite

Pj Harvey

And her style of music is similar to:
· Lily Allen
· Just Jack

This picture of Lily Allen is from her well known single, ‘Alfie’. Her music video like Kate Nash’s is quite quirky.

This is Just Jack; Kate Nash is similar to him and Lily Allen in the style of the way she sings.

location photos

These are the location photos for Kate Nash's house and the photos of the bathroom for when she is at the party. we chose these locations because they were accessible, had space for filming and we had permission. the locatonis also have good natural light work well.
