Evaluation.
Overall I was happy with our two tasks. For our main task we chose a high school theme and for our preliminary task we chose a scene between a doctor and patient.
With the main task I thought that the filming went well and we were precise with our editing. We decided that since it was the beginning of a film it should have the opening music so we muted most of it and found a copyright free band. It wasn’t exactly what we had in mind, but we feel it worked fine with the timing of the filming. When we were adding in the opening credits we decided to try to fit them into the film rather than just having them over the film. So we included them in ways by putting text on the locker or on the paper. This worked out as we had planned and looked successful.
As we went along we made changes which we thought would improve our work. For example, with the preliminary task, we changed the entire idea from two spies meeting in a cafĂ©, to a patient seeing a physiatrist, which we felt we could get more dialogue and interesting shots from. The filming of the preliminary task was harder in my opinion because we filmed the same scene twice and everything has to be the same so that when you change angles in editing it turns out right. During editing, in order to get it to do shot reverse shot we had to razor both of the scenes a lot and then join them together. This took up more time than we expected, but we got it done and we feel that there were enough switches between the shots. In the preliminary task we also included and overhead shot. This is because it fitted in with the dialogue and we zoomed in from above. As she says “is it me or is the room getting smaller”.
In conclusion, I think that the filming and editing went well and the changes that we made improved our filming. I was happy with the final outcome and it worked out as we wanted.
